Make sure you have specified a device ID for your device, and are not using the default value (that used to be critical with 2.11, but I don't know if it is still required).<br><br>Make sure the IP address and subnet mask you specified is compatible with that of the PC you are trying to connect to.<br><br>Under the name servers tab on the network card configuration, specify the IP address of the PC you want to sync with in the WINS field.<br><br>BTW, the status message couldn't be further from the truth. It will always say "PC Contacted", even if the Pocket PC is not friggen plugged into the network. When it says "Checking for partnership..." it has actually found ( "contacted" ) the PC.<br><br>Dan East<br><br>[sup][color=blue]Last modification: Dan East - 01/03/02 at 07:13:08

thanks Dan, heres the deal though, I get my ip dhcp from my router and i get everything except a wins address is the wins(has no idea what wins is) address crucial becuase i just pick my computer name to sync with in the nic properties? Also what do you mean by device id? How do i change it? I didnt specify a name and password could this be the problem, i dont think thats it is though becuase i still get an ip and use the net with my gateway.

All you need to know is your PC's IP address. I would assume it is static. If not, you need to check with whomever administrates that network so you can get a static IP for your PC.<br><br>To set the ID go to the Network control panel, then select the Identification tab.<br><br>Dan East

I'm using a Socket LP-E CF card. It's 10Base-T only. It's a few years old but works great. We have several of them, including PCMCIA form factor.<br><br>Dan East<br>

Cool i use the socket cf 10/100 card. I just wanted to make sure my nic wasn't crap. Do you know if the card will work in my laptop via pc>cf adapter, my only concern is drivers?

Yes, mine does. The CF and PCMCIA versions work exactly the same with the same drivers when used in my laptop. I have a linksys CF 802.11b card, and was very surprised to find it was "CE only", and you can't use it with w2k, xp, me, etc. Fortunately the Socket stuff all seems to be very universal.<br><br>Dan East

Are you using PPC2002? If so:<br><br>Start->Settings->Connections Tab-><br><br>under the first drop down menu (should say work settings... if not, change it to that) click modify<br>go to the proxy settings tab and check off "This network connects to the internet"<br><br>go back to that page with the drop down menus... does th last (3rd) one say work? if not, change it..<br><br>then click ok, and do a soft reset.<br><br>It work now?Last modification: Chris Edwards - 01/04/02 at 21:26:44

Ok i got it working but i have another question. I use three diffrent networks each has a computer with a diffrent name that async is installed on so do i have to change mt name and password evertime i switch networks or is there like some way to make a list of names and pw associated with seperat async hosts? Also there is only a way to do 2 wins addresses from what i can tell but i need to do 3 is there a way to specify a wins host and 2 alts notjust one alt, like areg hack or something?

Hmm. A few years ago there was a commercial app that stored network profiles that you could easily switch between. It allowed you to use your device on multiple LANs that each needed unique settings. I don't know what it's called, where to get it, or if it works with Pocket PC. :|<br><br>Dan East
