Casio E-200 Review

Casio E-200 Review

Postby Chris Edwards » Jan 28, 2002 @ 4:52am

How many reviews save you $50? This one will. <a href="http://www.pocketmatrix.com/reviews/E200/">Read the review</a> to receive $50 off the purchase of an E200 from <a href="http://www.pocketpcfanatic.com">Pocket PC Fanatic</a>.

"The first time I saw the E-200 was online, and although I had never seen it in person, I could tell that I liked the looks of it. Being an ex-Cassiopeia owner, I expected quality."

Good review, but you're right, some more pictures would've been nice. And maybe even a short vid like the one you did for the @migo.

Overall tho, you answered my questions about the device

There appears to be a trend with Casio E-200 devices hard-resetting on power up. I was made aware of this because my DEXplor customers must request a new registration key if their device is hard-reset (unless they are using an iPaq, because they have permanent electronic serial numbers, or unless they performed a backup after installing DEXplor). Apparently there is a critical update that must be obtained from Casio that replaces the faulty DLL ddi.dll contained in ROM. Pocket TV uses this DLL, and would case hard resets when playing videos. I assume that all new E-200s ship with the patched DLL file.

i got two e-200 wth 2x96Mb cf card. here in .ru it was kinda difficult to find this model, but... well, all i can say is that it is my first PPC and i like it very much. it works as mp3-player, plays porno when we got nothing to do @lectures, manages e-books... the only thing that i didn't like was uncomplete localization, but that's the problem of MacCentre Moscow (hi guys!!). oh, right - here it costs about $700 without additional memory.

ciao.
