A new Programming Project

A new Programming Project

Postby R0B » Jan 30, 2002 @ 12:01am

Ok, I realize that I haven't released a full version of PocketLegacy for the ppc, but that will have to wait possibly indefinitley. So, I was thinking about DukeNukem 3D. Has anyone started that yet? I heard that the source was released in a topic on this board. Or, does anyone have any other sugestions. I am getting my e200 on friday so the first version of this next port is sure to support ppc's and hpc 2000's.

You know, Rob, people aren't allowed to strike out too many times with their projects. With the failure to release Wolf and now Doom Legacy I can't see where there is any confidence building up here.

Finish Legacy (damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead) and then move on to other projects.

If Machineworks is giving you crap, screw them. I can't see how they can do shit to you- it's not like you are making any money off this or you stole the source code. You are within legal boundries, and they'll do anything to scare you. Failure to release just lets them win.

As far as the Build Engine goes, it has never been released as far as I know. There may have been attempts to reverse engineer it, but that wouldn't really get you very far.

Duke Nukem!!

I'm currently doing a project for French class, in which I am mapping a French marketplace with Worldcraft (Worldcraft is the software to make maps for Half-Life, Quake I,II,III, Unreal, Max Payne, etc, I'm using the Half-Life .pak and engine for it). I am a very good mapper, and once again, I get to show off to fellow classmates (and my chic  ). I am progressing quite well; the project is due 2/28, so I have time, but when it comes to mapping, it takes FOREVER, just like coding/programming. When I'm done, I'll post a link to download the finished .bsp (you will need Half-Life to play it, or maybe just Counter-Strike, but I'm not sure) map file. So far it's kickass!

There is no striking out. I have a full working and released version of PocketLegacy. Should I say that Dan keeps striking out since none of his ports work on the 720? NO! Now, come on guys. I like to have more than one thing going at a time, and before I release anything else for PL I need a responce back from ID. You can say don't worry about it all you want, but it will be my @ss if I get sued, not yours. I even believe that Dan has decided to wait before he releases another version of anything (I thought that I read that in a wolf thread). Wolf was a strikeout, although I do have about 1/4 of the port done, I didn't work as hard as I should have on it. Legacy is an easy double (if I never get to release a ppc version), but I want to hit a home run!
