Hello again,
I just talked to Carpediem on ICQ. Thanks to Jacco Bikker we both calmed down and he said that no-one will be sued. I am still very sorry.
I did my best to get it removed from the warez, only to be told that Moose did the same yesterday. There should be no Argentum in the warez scene now, if you happen to find it please inform me or msg the owner of the fserv to delete it. Thank you.
Carpe said we should also ask a mod to delete the other thread due to bad publicity. I believe I would have asked for the same, so that's okay by me. I hope you will not feel offended.
I would also thank everyone for their support, but especially T1 and Jacco. They both have great games (T1 WIP), please check them out!
I also believe that the final version of Argentum will be way better than the early beta some of you saw. I'd suggest you to at least check out the official demo as soon as it is released.
I have certainly learned from this mistake: do not retaliate while you are angry.

Actually, it was a large amount of publicity, whether good or bad; there were lots of people that flocked to that thread over the past few days, and regardless of what people thought about it; they were thinking about argentum.

there are two types of really good publicity :)

I'd like to have access to this "hidden" thread, just so I can reference it. I want to see answers to my simplistic and stupid questions. I haven't been around for a couple days, and I think I at least deserve that.

Should it be deleted? Apparently if the Argentum Team doesn't like something they screwed up, they conveniently cover up their bullshit or shut it down. Is this a democracy or communist state?

How many posts were by Lomax himself? Alot. He had a right to be pissed. But you don't string that many responses and then delete them when you feel like it. I'm abusive 100% of the time, and if anyone wants point out my past responses, they can. Because they have access to my words.

Would I ever want my incrimintating words to be deleted? nope.

If the fags of Argentum would simply quite fucking up and take the straight path, they wouldn't have to deal with this kind of crap.

Intimidating a German kid (15 years old) so he publicly apologises and then falsely promote the AG team had absolutely no wrongdoing. I saw the text. I saw the abuse. I saw the finger-pointing. It didn't go away. Is the world perfect now?

Bad press? Maybe. But once again, who the hell dragged this bitch-fest out so publicly. The AG team kept pushing it, and they should have to deal with it. Lets see... somehow they keep escaping accountablity, so obviously they are going to continue. Hold them accountable, and they'll think twice next time.

Oh, BTW, there is no such thing as bad press. All press is good press, you just have to have enough brain-power to put the proper spin on it. No, don't lie, that will just continue the downward spiral.

Release the ARM and SH3 version from the same time-frame as the WAREZ'd Mips. That build is old and certainly won't affect the sales. Posting it in an easy to maintain location will ensure you can keep track of downloads. Like the defunct AG site. This will indicate what your online selling potential is with the aid of public announcements on sites like PocketGamer. (without advertising)

Advertising never drives numbers down, so you can use that as leverage. Tell anyone that will listen that you got this many downloads without ads, imagine what you could do WITH advertising (AND a final version). Publishers, advertisers, backers, etc. like to see solid numbers. Maybe those numbers don't seem very high to you, or not what you expected. But they have additional info to compare and determine what your potential is.

Yes, it's an old beta. But who the hell WOULDN'T download it, especially if they have been anticipating release.

Listen to criticisms, and smile no matter if they are good or bad. Compare those criticisms to the changes you have made over the last 7 months. If you've already implemented it, it means you are right on target. If you haven't, then maybe you should consider it for future patches. Unless it is a totally stupid idea. Cutomers tend to be demanding, but I don't think I have seen a single stupid idea for Snails. Maybe difficult or impossible, but not stupid.

I personally think these 3 kids did you a great service, regardless how malicious their intent was. What the hell has Romero done as far as promotion? I don't even see him pushing his own game.

Also, by providing your own DLs, you automatically kill the demand for WAREZ'd beta. This beta will continue to be exchanged whether you like it or not. The longer you wait, the less likely it will be that you will be able to get accurate numbers. Right now ANYONE who wants Mips AG has it. So you've already missed those. Mips isn't a huge portion of sales, so you'll still get accurate numbers.

Eventually, you guys will have to put me on your payroll.

Randall, you do have access to the thread. Take a look in one of the private forums you have access to (not DEXplor Beta).

I completely agree that the smart thing for Ionside to do is release a beta / demo now. It has been said several times that the game is ready. They should strip the data down to one or two levels and release a demo. As Randall said, it will give them control over distribution (they could even collect an email address at download time), and help build interest since the release is supposedly imminent. If the game is ready, it should be released in the next month, whether or not they find a publisher. They can't hide behind the "releasing a beta will hurt sales" for two reasons; 1) they said it is done, so it should be a polished product already. 2) Snails had a very open beta development process. The fact that Snails needed a good amount of work when the first public beta was released had no ill effect when Snails finally went on sale. It simply whetted peoples' appetite for the full product. DEXplor contains bugs. When people find and report them, and I roll out a new version in a timely manner that corrects those issues, the consumer has more respect for my product and my ability to protect their investment.

Wow, someone read my long-winded post. :) Thanks for telling me where that thread is, Dan. I'll figure out how to archive it, just because it's so amusing.

Kind of disappointing that nobody from the AG team responded immediately after me- I was hoping for some answers. Nothing will shut me up faster than being proved wrong, with concrete facts.

In the event that they missed it, I'd be happy to re-post it.
