Does anyone know the origin of Divx? :)

You could actually build your own divx player. Maybe even make a new microprocessor that decodes divx for you. I think that if it hasn't been done yet, that will be my senior project a college.

Or you could try to find one of the original divx players, before they became obsolete, and take the stuff out of that.

The simplest way to watch divx at your home on your tv, is to get a video card with TV-Out.

And DivX came from MPEG-4

Matt's right, the original DivX is simply a hacked Microsoft MPEG4 codec, therefore it was illegal.
Version 4 and 5 are built from scratch, but they kept the name.
