I was thinking that predicitve texting, like on a mobile, would be a very efficeint form of data entry on a ppc. I was wondering if anything is available tht does this using a vyboard.

Not to my knowledge.

The native CE keyboard supports something like word prediction, but it's quite useless in my opinion.

Try , it concentrates the most frequently used letters in the center and therefore minimizes pen travel.

It's a little bit unusal at first though, but I'm used to it now and it's the fastest way of text entry I know.

Fitaly looks great, am going to try it out immediately, it doesn't support text prediction but it has shortcuts for often used phrases and stuff

What i actually meant was where u would have 9 buttons, each representing three letters. You would then press the buttons which corresponded with the word you wanted, and it would give you the words which could be made with those keypresses, from which you would select the right one.

For example, to right 'help', you would press 4 (which represents g, h and i) 3 (d,e,and f) 5 (j,k,l) and 7 (p,r,s) it would then work out the words which could be made with these key presses, and give you them.

well obviously it only works best with longer words.

win ce already predicts text pretty well anyway. fitaly lets you store your own shortcuts doesnt it? so "spiderman rocks" can be typed by pressing "sr" or something?[/quote]

glenthemole probably is just used to T9 from his cell phone, but I don't see what's so bad about using the built-in text input methods, especially with Transcriber. However, if someone ever wants to develop such a program, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard.

The Philips Nino had T9 text input and I loved it. If you are walking around using it, it is a lot easier because of the large buttons. I miss it...
If someone developed it for ppc's I would certainly buy it.
