3.11 is the only one with the "illegal" audio codec. you actually still want divx 5 video, and reinstalling divx 3.11 will not overwrite the 5.0 codec, but 4.x and 5.x do not come with the mp3 codec.

eh? on my old pc i had divx 3 then 4 then 5 but when i got the laptop i just installed 4 then 5, and i was still able to play old divx3 files.

5 isnt - at least not for me. I had to reinstall DivX4 because DivX5 wouldnt play any video files.
Also, I have to open some files with "The Playa", others with Windows Media Player. Some files just wont play using "The Playa", while others wont play in the Windows Media Playa.

I use nimo codec pack, it installs all the codecs you need
