Windows Media Player for PPC: NOW ACTUALLY USEFULL!

Postby Mechcommander » Jul 24, 2002 @ 10:31pm

Hello all: Ive been tinkering with video for the Pocket PC for a little bit now and I've come to the conclusion that .WMV video is the way to go (At least until Pocket DivX is officially released and doesnt have too many bugs) I reviewed PocketTV and found that it beat Windiows Media Player in the options arena 10 times over due to all the different options you can mess with. What wasn't so hot: I decided to use to convert a 1.24 MB to Mpeg format (NTSC, non-interlace, 529 line, etc..) And the file turned out to be 15 MB. Evenb though I have 64 MB's handy on my trusty iPAQ, I can't afford 15 MBytes for a 2 minute clip. I decided to download to change the .avi file into a .WMV file. (It also can convert MPG to WMV, MPEG to WMV, .dat to WMV and of course, the WMV file types) It has a variety of Media Profiles you can use, but with a little tweaking of the (My Version WILL be available to download soon.) I was able to get a full screen (240 by 320, or vice versa) image with great sound and image quality- all in a 2 MByte file. Be assured, Pocket Divx will probably be better than both once it is out and officially released. Please, post your comments.

1. PocketDivx is available.
2. PocketDivs has been "officially" released for quite a while.
3. It is far better than WMP imho.

what do you mean by 'out and officially' released when speaking of PocketDivx? I have it running and I can assure you it works great.

Go Pocket Divx - It doesn't screw up my mp3's so it's my favorite.

I downloaded a version of it, and it locked up my PPc several times. Have you crossed the 1.0 barrier? If you have, I hadn't noticed. I use an iPAQ 3765, and I believe that I downloaded the right version. Might I be wrong? *gasp*

I'm not lazy, I've been gone until about 4 PM this afternoon doing stuff, very important stuff. Same thing the day before, and all night I was out, too. The day before that I was farming, spraying chemicals on orange trees (no pay, just did it for the sake of it). I'm not lazy, I don't need a job, and what exactly is "a fuck" Paul?

I'll field that one Paul. My history teacher told us F**k stands for "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" Back in the day, that meant you were an adulterer (sp?) They put you in the stocks (sp?) and it said F**k engraved on the stocks (sp? again) This history lesson was brought to you by: Eric - He Rules, Mac - It sucks, and by Viewers like you.
