Need help with a Casio E-105

I have a friend who wants to use his E-105 to do some remedial stuff and see if he wants to convert back to WinCE based PIMs and maybe to a PPC2002 PDA.

I am looking for system updates for this sucker and cant find a darn thing. I was hoping someone here could assist me in finding system updates, upgrades, patches. I was hoping for any extra information you may give me on this like what all can I do with this ie. upgrade it to WinCE 3.0 by any chance or something in that category.

Thanks all in advance.
Jay

Upgrading the E105 to CE 3.0 was done with a new ROM chip. Those are long sold out, so sorry. No way :(

Found a website that sells them for 11.50 and about 8.00 or so for s/h. I did a search on google for software patches and upgrades and found a way to do a ROM chip replacment upgrade and pocketpcpassions has a howto on how to do it also. So I think I may go that route. I just put on slay and pocketgb on it for games. Not sure what other stuff he will want to do for it.I hope with the ROM upgrade there will be some more possibilities.

Thanks,
Jay

You could get the E105's gx.dll file that alows you to play some games and stuff. Don't ask me where, I just know "it exists"

The e105 has the same exact hardware as the e115, except the older ROM chip. Trust me. I have/have had both devices (I lost my e105... or it was stolen). My e115 is a good device, just not really fast. I still use it since I haven't gotten around to fixing my iPAQ. I listen to music on it and everything.

Man! The ROM chip used to be like over $100! If it was only about $20 (incl. shipping) back then, I would've just bought that instead of deciding to lose my e105! Oh well. (I didn't decide to lose it, but maybe I would've been more careful!)

Yeah. PocketDIVX allows you to play movies a lot better than the old CASIO video player. PocketDIVX also runs on e10xs (e100 and e105) and the BE-300 and Handheld PCs, besides all Pocket PCs (including like a pre-Beta Toshiba e740 version that's optimized for the ATI Imageon).
}

Definitely get the ROM chip. The Pocket PC OS kicks WinCE 2.11's butt.
