I think it updates something on the calendar. My ipaq switches on for a few seconds at 12. I think I read about it somewhere on pm.

hrmm... well I keep getting good battery habits confused with so many different types of batteries out there. But I think it's always a good idea to not leave it charging over night or when it doesn't need any charging, and to drain the battery down to below 30% before charging it back up again. Just for future reference... but of course I'm not SURE if that's right, someone will verify it or deny it, whichever.
PocketPCs turn themselves on at midnight each night to update events and your schedule for the day. Maybe yours just isn't turning itself off. Although my iPaq will OCCASIONALLY, not frequently at all, come on on it's own accord. Usually it turns itself off, or I do anyway. And sometimes when I try to turn it off, SOMETIMES, like twice in it's week of life, the backlight has only gone off when I turn it off and not the entire device, I can still almost see the screen. But i just pusht he power button again and it will turn off.
But why don't you set your device to turn itself off if it hasn't been used within... 3 minutes. That doesn't interfere with watching movies and playing music, I don't think, so that shouldn't be a problem. And then it will turn itself off if your device does turn on again.

I do have it set to go off after 3 minutes of no activity, but it still seems to die on me. I wish there was some way to reflash the ROM, since that seems to be the problem (at least from my perspective).
