What is HyperTerminal and how do I use it? Would I have to set up a server on my PC?? Is there any other ways to make calls using the modem directly from my PPC?

HyperTerminal is a simple program that lets you "talk" to your modem by sending it commands it recognizes. Example
AT D6947286
will dial the telephone number 6947286 user a tone signal
AT P
will dial with pulse. AT tells the modem to pay "ATtention."
S11=38
will decrease the interval between digit dials to 38ms.
That kind of thing. Just uhm... use the Help menu to find out more. It's been a long time since I've used HyperTerminal.

With the right software, which I don't think exsists for pocketpc, you might be able to use your ppc as a phone. But how often do you have access to a phone jack, but no phone? Seems kind of pointless to me, sort of like browsing the internet on your ppc while it is in a cradle connected to a desktop

Ok, another Question. How can I remotly connect to my Desktop from my PPC using the Pocket Modem? Does that also require setting up big complicated servers?

No, HyperTerminal does all that automatically... Just call with your PocketPC and have you desktop/HyperTerminal automatically answer the phone.
