Looks like the site is totally gone now. I figured it would disapear one day soon, as they announced a port of Doom and a game called PocketRocks over a year ago that never arrived. I would guess that their year subscription for their website has ran out and nobody bothered repaying it.

But, never fear! I have the SH3, MIPS, ARM and the shareware levels for Pocket Hexen and Pocket Heretic, on my PC. I will upload them to my Forgotten Files web page soon (probably by tomorrow).

You can find The Forgotten Files <A href="http://www.angelfire.com/games4/techmage.com/TMTFF.html">here.</A> So check later and they will be on there.

Did you make it Techmage? Or was it a joint effort?

Oh, and with all my computer art, I drew the images pixel by pixel with a mouse in M$ Paint, and I used Adobe Photoshop for the lighting effects on some of the images.

Infact I met a guy at my college today who wanted to look at my Pocket PC. After playing with it for a while I showed him Smash A Skull. After he saw my artwork in the game, he said he worked for a local software company and said that he wanted to see more of my artwork, and maybe I could work for his company if I wanted to. The company is called PathWorks .

He gave me his email address and told me to email him some artwork. I was pretty shocked. This guy just started talking about a possible job, out of the blue. I didn't even tell him that I was looking for work! I guess his company is working on an online RPG that is currently in beta. He is the head graphic artist and from what he told me of the game, it sounds really cool.

That version of pocket hexan/heritic is for the pocketpc. By that I mean it was designed for a screen res of 240x320 (rotated sideways) and it requires two libraries that the ppc does not have. The first is gx.dll (The GAPI library), and the second is aygshell.dll. I remember at one time they were thinking of making a port to the 720, but after about a month of nothing I stoped going there. If they ever did complete the port, than it would be great if someone could post it.

After reading your original post, I realized you wanted a Jornada 720 version of Pocket Hexen and Heretic. Like Rob said, the HPC (which is what the 720 is) is not the same as the PPC. I wish I had a Jornada 720 port but like Rob said, they didn't make one. Sorry about that. :(

I think the HPC 2000s rock and it's too bad that PPC games and apps won't run on them. My game is also for PPC and not HPC so don't worry about checking it out. I have the SDK for the HPC and I am currently working on an updated version of my game, so I might just go ahead and make a HPC version of it also. Maybe I can get Rob or Courtney or someone else with a HPC to beta test for me. Sorry about Pocket Hexen and Pocket Heretic. If I had more programming skills, time, and a HPC to test on (which you really need for something as complex as Hexen or Heretic), I would gladly port a version, but I don't.

Ah well.... sigh..... farewell to nostalgia!
But thanks so much for all your help nevertheless.
I can't get pocket Quake to run either. It does try to build but says that the sound won't initialise because of lack of memory, so I think I'll have to get a memory card for that. It then tries to load a demo which isn't there and gives an error - I'm left with a flashing cursor... is there any way to start the game despite this? Has anyone got it to work on a Jornada 720?
(Perhaps I should post this to the Quake forum...sorry if this isn't the right place...)
Thanks, Chris.
