HP released their TabletPC, the TC1000, right on schedule today. It features ... well, it features so many things that if I were to list them here I'd be late for my 4PM class! (It being 10:30 AM at the time of writing)

For a short taste of what it offers, however:
Transmeta Crusoe 1000MHz Processor
Nvidia Geforce2Go 100 Graphics Processor
up to 768MBs of SDRAM
up to 60GB built in Hard Drive
10.4" Color TFT screen at 1024x768 (landscape)
Detachable Keyboard
3 Pounds light
Built in WiFi
AND PLENTY MORE!

Starting at $1,699!

Be sure you take the online virtual tour. I'm particularly fond of the "Tablet / Docking" animation in the 3D view of this amazing device.

All I can say is ... my Christmas list just got rearranged :D

Wow, I'd like to have one. Or at least see one in a store and try it out.

What's the story on the Transmetas? Are they reliable?

Out of curiosity, why do you append News: to these posts? I'd think it'd be fairly obvious by the subject.

Quake II? Quake II runs on my 233 MHz Thinkpad with a non-3D-accelerated 2 meg video card.

Exactly, I'm sure Q2 will work. Q3 probably will, but not maxed out.

Ya, I've got another return coming up soon. So I think I'll spend a little on this thing ... although I'll have to think about it some more. I don't want to waste money just because this thing is exceedingly cool.

Maybe you should wait until more Tablet PCs are released... then you'll have more of a selection as to price and features. Plus, by then more reviews will be available so you can see what others think of them.

Ill be surprised if this news post is going to get on the news in the General Pocket PC Discussion forum. It doesn't exactly fit in your pocket :?

Might be moved to Anything Discussion and posted as news most likely.

Ya, I'm gonna wait for a review. But right now this is the cheapest and best (specs wise) TabletPC out there, and it's the thinnest, has the longest battery life. And hey, it's a cool new toy, how can I resist?

I want a tablet PC that's about 5 by 8 with no keyboard. Something about the size of a steno pad.
