The cards themselves are backward compatible but are devices such as a PDA backward compatible? Im hoping so.
The fried CF card is unfixable. i have tried formatting it on my computer, my digital camera and my PDA and all say "an error occurred during format (error 31)".
Thanks for then help so far!

Ok i think im going to get this one
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getp ... c6481cb28d
Its nice and large and its type II but still a small size. the only thing im worried about is that its really cheap for a 512meg type II card. and 2 i dont know how fast it is. at the moment im using a 16meg 8x pos and all my videos lag because the CF card is to slow. Do you think this will be fast enough?
Thanks for all your help!

What? Videos run fast on my 8x CF card. Heck, they run perfectly normal on my far slower SD card too.

Reading from Flash RAM is horribly slow on the current crop of XScale devices. This is a known issue and there's nothing you can do about it.
