PocketMatrix

I am testing out a program that uses PocketHal for the game engine. On the HP 2215 it ran really fast. I just bought an Axim x50v (VGA with great video card, 624 mhz) and now the same program is 20 fps slower than before even with the great tweak by Picard http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=57128 .

Can this be looked into? This PPC is so cool, and technically should run PocketHal games like no other device to date.

this should be interesting because the screen is twice as big and because of the 2700G multimedia accelerator.

How are other game programmers dealing with the bigger screen size? I'm planning on detecting the bigger size, centering the 320 x 240 image and padding the area outside of the main screen area with a static pattern.

A VGA screen is 4x as big, not twice. I do not have access to an Axim 50v, therefore it will be hard for me to do anything about it. I can of course integrate existing code if someone has it available.

The programs I am running are qvga. Even with Picard's fix, the problem is that my Axim is 624 Mhz and I am getting 10 fps slower than my 400 Mhz iPaq. Without picard's fix, forget it.

Again, I don't know if picard's fix goes far enough (though I am grateful for it). I should be getting much faster results with a faster processor
