New Licensing model - Scary

Postby RickyHoughton » Jan 19, 2004 @ 4:34pm

I literally am in the middle of trying to port our software to this platform. It looks like a very nice piece of software and will provide some benefits over our current methods. However I can't possibily contintue to invest my time in something that I may not be able to afford. I made my decision to invest my time based on the previous licensing scheme and our potential ability to pay an outright one-time fee without royalties. (Royalties are not an option for my company, not because we sell a lot, we in fact will likely only sell 100 copies this year, we make money off support, not products.)

Without some information about how the new licensing model will resolve, I can't possibly imagine how I can continue developing.

You are completely entitled to make money on your effort. I do, just please let us know the licensing structure as soon as possible so we can make decisions, we will make our living off your products... or not, we just have to decide soon.

Thanks,

Ricky

Hi!

I hope that there will still be a fully functional test version (please not an expiring, splash screen is okay).
I have nothing against paying some licence fees (not too high please!), but i want only pay if i have a finished product (i am hobby developer, and i never know that i will finish the projects i start).

Hi,
I was looking at this software and I think it is very cool, but what else would i need to make a game on pocket pc?

could some one tell me this information and maybe links to the sight...

or am i in the wrong form, is there another form for for these questions?
if so could some one point the way?

I know how to program in C, and C++ so that is not a problem I just need to know what else i need to know when it comes to making a game on the PPC platform...

To get the basics of PPC game development, pick up Prima Tech's Pocket PC Game Programming by Harbour. While not a fantastic guide to ppc development, it will provide the basics and get you started. You can also search this forum for source code (there are a few games released with source - you can find a couple on the ppcstudios website as well).

I have just been to the website
[url]http://gapidraw.com/license-about.asp#3

and i am a little confused by this payment thing so since i am a 1 man dev. team I would not have to pay for a license and could sell my game... Then give VI money maybe a year down the road...

Is this how it works...

Thanks,
