GapiDraw 2.05 - Symbian Port Progress

Hi,

I just wanted to say that Erik and Jonas have been working hard on the Symbian Port and right now have most of the GapiDraw core ported and working on both the Nokia 7650 and the Sony Ericsson P800. We will release a public beta as soon as everything is in there and we have the DLL export + some samples finished!

If you have questions or comments on their work, please feel free to post anything in this thread... They visit the forum regularly...

One thing I guess I should mention is that much of the difficulties involved were related to getting the display to work reliably. Most of the internal code in GapiDraw compiled immediately - which is really good news for games development! In most cases you will actually be able to take your current GapiDraw project and recompile it for Symbian devices!

Hi Johan,

Symbian support! This is GREAT news! I know I'm pushing my luck, but is there a list of all the various Symbian devices that will be supported with GapiDraw 2.05?

The reason why I'm asking is that I'm about to purchase a Sony Ericsson T610, but if its not capable of coping with GapiDraw applications I might rather go for a Nokia 6800/6610/6100. It does look like the newer Nokia devices should support something like GapiDraw.

The P800 and 7650 is a little out of reach when it comes to $$$, so I was just wondering if the lower end Symbian devices might also work? It would be great to actually have a handheld device to test with besides Win32... :)
