Will gapidraw work on Windows ME without updating DirectX?

Hi,

I am wanting to use gapidraw for a "casual gamer" audience game. Many of the customers in this market use Windows ME, and they don't want/know to upgrade their DirectX, so the game needs to run under DirectX 7 (which came standard with Windows ME).

The docs on the gapidraw site say it requires DX8.0 - is that correct? What specifically does it need in DX8 (since DX8 doesn't even include directdraw?)

Basically, I want to know if I ship a game with gapidraw, will it run okay on a machine which only has DX7 installed?

Thanks,

Chaster

Hi,

GapiDraw runs on DirectX 7.0 and higher. Sorry for the misprint on the web page, I'll correct it on Wednesday.

Does the Video card have to be directdraw compatable? I tried searching the site, but found no info?

does this mean that the dll found in the "XP" folder of the release is actually a generic windows dll, provided they have directX 7+ i.e 98.ME,2K and XP?
