PPL & Win98SE

PPL & Win98SE

Postby Solonn » May 7, 2006 @ 9:54am

I know this has been discussed in the past (done a quick search in the forum) but I would point out that PPL isn't working on my laptop.

Here's the specs:
Model: Acer Travelmate505
CPU: Intel Celeron @ 466MHz
Ram: pc-100 64 Mb
OS : WIN 98 se

The biggest thing is that not only programs won't work, but the installer itself is crashing the machine. I.e.: when I copy the installer to the laptop windows go "blue screen" and i'm forced to hard reset.
At this point I started thinking this could be caused by the way in wich files ar generated for ppl, since every method (bluetooth, lan, usb hard drive, usb flash card) I use to tansfer those files results in a system crash.

Hope this info could help, since some users like myself would like to work on the laptop for mobility.

Yes, Whenever I try to copy the files, the laptop crashes.

After some experimentation, I tried to do the following:

1) Download the archive of the last beta on my desktop.

2) copy the archive on usb H.d. (but i got the same results using other methods of file transfer)

3) copy the archive to the laptop.

Until point n° 3 everything goes well, but when I try to open the archive on the laptop, it crashes, as if it can't read the file correctly.

Bye, Solonn

P.S.: Everything goes well when I transfer other files between my computers, so the problems are connected to the PPl files expecially.
