As far as I know people can pay you with their credit cards and they don't need an account for this.

I think this only applies to eBay auctions where items are sold at thousands of dollars, but Paypal is a pretty unethical business.

Just head to paypalsucks.com to read the stories that occur.

But for products sold at $10-$15, I dont think one or two refunds because of a scam is going to hurt, so it'll be fine. But for myself, I'm staying away from that company 100%.

I've tried the button on a "clean" computer to avoid cookies and there is no way around making an account. All payments I have come from PAYPAL members. I'll wait to hear from PAYPAL as I'm alone in this issue.

Thanks for the responses. :D

If you're only selling something for $3 then eSellerate is cheaper than PayPal. PayPal's fee is 2.2% + $0.30 (for sales within the US). So for $3 that is 36 cents, or 12.2%. eSellerate is a fixed 10%, which is 30 cents per sale.

If you are selling outside the US then PayPal is 2.9% +$0.30, which is 12.9% for $3.00.

Now for DEXplor, which is $13.95, PayPal ends up being 4.35%, which of course is extremely good.

After some algebra, $3.85 is the magic number. Cheaper than that and eSellerate's fees are less than PayPal's per sale.

The magic number for Handango is $0.00. Any sales cheaper than $0 are cheaper at Handango compared to PayPal or eSellerate. So if you are into paying people to use your software then I would recommend Handango.

Thanks Dan but I signed up for E-Sellerate recently and they had a $5 min. Which is why I didn't think it right for this. I'm not to fussed about how much I get of the cake my concern is people buy a first product from me at my website to get the ball rolling. If that happens I can work on larger programs knowing they will get the sales they deserve.

I'm putting the first four in this Golden Pass thing $3 for four, so I'm going to make next to nothing out of it. Actually I'm probably going to go for SWREG they're in the same country, and charge $.69 under $7. Which is poor by your values. Just got to write a PERL script to deliver the Code from Owner Name at order time. Hell if the money is an issue I'll put it up $2 each game release and punish people who showed no faith in me.

There is a forum going with this whole idea. As way of illustration work ongoing of course

I'm forced to agree that PAYPAL can be dodgy. Following a failed purchase on ebay I tried to get ebay & paypal to recover my money & eventually put through a credit card chargeback to get the money back. PAYPAL have now stopped me using the account to buy things & want me to pay them back even though I was the one who was ripped off. Needless to say I won't pay them anything but it's sad really as up till now I had made lots of use of PAYPAL. They have a strange way of keeping good customers.
