You are absolutely correct with the pre-drawn avenue. I have found a big load of squat. I managed to get 1 person for the sound end of things, he has done work for Mountain King Studios, on their game DemonStar (it was best shareware award a few years ago).

Finding an art guy is whole different story, I've spoken with a number of different people and they are either full of it (here look at what I did and scanned and it's some pencilling from their school notebook) or they keep saying they don't have the time (so why'd you msg me in the first place...o_O )

In anycase sort of discouraging, but I've found alot of other forums to post at and am hoping for more replies.

Cheers,
Robert

I recently found the following site while looking for meshes. It also has 114 sound effects & plenty of other stuff. I'm paying for custom meshes for the main ships in my game but for some of the non-important background stuff I'm looking at free or cheap meshes

Wow that's some impressive work and a great resource, way out of my pocketbook range though. Thank you though Conan, some of that stuff would be great to incorporate into future projects when I get this one off ground zero.

(Very impressed with that work, just amazing.)

Just as a sidenote, the cost of supplying artists with software is enough to make a grown man cry, anyone found a way to offset that kind of overhead? (Don't start emailing me to give you software :P)

The true meaning of Homer Simpons adage: Doht!

Story of my life:

I find an *awesome* sound guy...
Everything is green for go....

ICQ (You know that 'uh oh' sound)
"I have a prior contract I am bound to, it might take 2 months or more...sorry" doht!

Hey no hard feelings I completely understand...doht!...grumble grumble...

ok look on bright side...I found a really *awesome* graphics guy and he's actually interested woohoo

...(scooby doo time warp a few days later)...

...dangit, he's already working on another game...doht!

..hrm..computer getting slow..computer acting funny...computer no turn on...hard drive smell like cooked circuit board...doht!

So nearly a month later after finishing design documents, sketched concept art, and bugging the absolute crap out of everyone, I see now that I will have to enroll in art classes at the college next semester and learn to play music with some of the marching band drop outs.

Ain't life peachy! :D Yummm....peaches....

The one word that could definitely describe the last two weeks would have to be: Doht!

If you buy me a MIDI keyboard I'll do the music for you... hey, it's cheaper- no wait, easier- no wait, simpler- no wait... uhm... than taking a class! ... ahh :(

I did have a brief look at it, and it does some of the things I mentioned.
