Can other games be ported?

I have two old favorites from Star Wars that I would love to play on my PPC....Dark Forces and Jedi Knight. Does the source code have to be released in order to port these games?

The DN3D port was a hoax. Yeti3D is an engine, not a game, and it costs quite a bit for indies to licence. The rest of it, I can't make much sense of, and please don't post the same message multiple times.
