yeah, I've been drooling over the ibm t40p. GREAT specs and reviews. Although the thin voodoo pc laptop looks nice too.

The Pentium M is actually very nice... basically just a PIII with a 400mhz bus, 1 meg cache and power-saving additions. While a 3 gig P4 would be a bit faster than a 1.7 gig Centrino, I really wouldn't think the differences in size, power consumption and price would be worth it. Unless the P4 was hyperthreading... but that usually doesn't happen in laptops.

hey soatari e-machines (not well known but have pretty good cheap computers) has a widescreen laptop with the same specs as the one you were looking at for the same price. It comes with a ati 3d accelerater (cant remember if its a mobile radeon) with 32mb of ram. I was looking at it last week at circuit city and it looks really nice (the screen is really clear).

HP, Compaq, Dell, e-machines and most other laptop companies don't make the laptops themselves... they just ask other companies to do them, which means that a desktop by a company doesn't necessarily have to be the same quality as their laptop.

^-- Entirely true, even Sager, Alienware, and VoodooPC get their laptop platforms from a company called Clevo.
