Actually Moose, "ass" and "butt" are not the same because of connotation. Perhaps denotation is identical, but connotation is FAR different. If you say "Man, I hit my butt on that door" or something like that, the object of the sentence is NOT to curse, but to say you were hit on the butt. However, if you say "You're an ass," one of the purposes of the sentence is to swear. If you want to cuss, you use the more vulgar term ("ass"), whereas if you want to get the same meaning without the dramatic effect you'd use the less vulgar term ("butt"). Why else do you think you can get in trouble for saying "fuck" but not for saying "f"?
And saying his mom is ignorant because she does that is just stupid. Great elitist stupidity.
