mp3 Tagging Software?

mp3 Tagging Software?

Postby SmarterThanSam » Dec 28, 2003 @ 12:53am

I have about 3000 mp3's all organized into folders based on artist and then album underneath it, but all of they're tags are empty. Do any of you guys know of any good software for tagging them that makes t easy and has lots of nice features?

ID3-TagIt 3 is the freeware I use. Very featured, and does all my renaming and FreeCDDB-data-getting stuff.

If you get it, use the 'Filename -> TAG Ver. 1 [or 2]' function found in the 'ID3-functions' menu after selecting all your files to be renamed. You can work out the rest :)

Once that's done, you can then use the FreeCDDB thingy to add album information (and other miscellaneous info no one ever uses anyway) to your files.

How do you have that many files and not have them tagged. Wouldn't your ripping program most likely do it for you? I guess I just thought that it was a standard feature on most programs now.

Heh.. ripped.. yea that's the ticket. Besides, not all programs offer that, or it sucks, or it can't find the info.

I use the software that came with my AudiTron, and it tags, but it doesn't name them the way I want, and it doesn't always do a good job.

Tag&Rename does a really good job with batches, renaming the files and folders and tagging. That is why I use it.
