Sounds like it. It took me 4 hours on the phone with Adelphia to get my cable up and running. I spoke with 5 people, turned out to be a 2 minute job. What a pain in the ass.

I rent my cablemodem hardware at home. It's an extra $2 a month and they give us a new one whenever anything happens to that one, and we get electrical surges often... renting it is a 'surge protector' if you will.

Here in the dormitory we've got 'free' Internet2, though, so it kind of messes all over cable internet when I get a good peak transfer rate.
