You could, but this is far cooler. It even connects to your OBDII sensor and records your engine performance and lets you trouble shoot CEL codes. You could set this thing up to track you acceleration and display a horsepower and torque graph and cross reference it against gas useage for every stop. It's pretty cool to have it in built. Especially if it had the TabletPC OS, then it would have handwriting recognition as well which would be useful.
