I really can't understand why they're so upset.
A while ago we had a thread there about blocking popups; and there was a group against blocking, saying that pop-ups are a legit method of making money, and that you should respect the site owner's decision... And now these same people are upset that Gmail is showing me appropriate ads.
So, I should get upset that Gmail is showing me non-intrusive text ads that might actually be helpful to me? Oh gosh no?!?!!!! I'd much rather see those lovely, well made IQ test banner ads, pretty please with sugar on top!
Get over it people. Your email passes through a hundred different systems before it reaches its destination. It's a bit late to get upset about it. IMO, if I have to endure a few text ads now and then in return for 1 gig of storage - that's a pretty good deal. Hell, when I visit PPC Thoughts, I see a lot more ads then that. At least two on every page, plus all the junk on the front page.
