Racism is based off of stereotyping but not the other way around. Stereotyping is what happens when you let yourself base an idea about a whole group on what you have observed about a few. This is wrong to do but sometimes is correct.

Right.

But stereotyping is used solely for the purpose of separating a group, or rather categorizing. Keep in mind we are talking about humans here, not animals or plants.
