Trae, I think it is great that you feel such debt to your fellow man (no sarcasm, I am serious). I also admire a man who can pick up on an idea and truly follow it and justify it.
Having said that...
I believe it is you who does not truly understand socialism. Socialism is about income redistribution. There is no meritocracy in the system at all, meaning that no one is rewarded for anything that they provide to the system. In such a case, everyone is (on paper) truly equal. The problems from such a system arise from the lack of inovation from a society that doesn't promote it and from the inherent ease of abuse. Of course there are examples of successful socialist cities...like Havana, Pyongyang and Cambridge, MA...you see my point?
Socialism cannot succeed, not because no one has tried it, but because it collapses on itself.
Thus we are left with the facts; the US was founded as a free capitalist society and socialism cannot work.
The only matter left to discuss is how to turn back the socialist programs that exist and return taxes to normal. Once that is done, and I have the other 40% of the money I earn, we can talk about how I am going to give some of it to charity...
