HAHA... alright, medicine. What kind are we talking about here? Prescription stuff, life saving?
Insurance companies are helpful and affordable as long as you don't do anything too stupid. Many doctors in my area are not taking insurance anymore and charging about 20% of their normal price (80% off) because insurance companies can't pay them because of all of this credit garbage because they don't even have any actual money on hand, it's all tied up in credit and payments and imaginary numbers on some computer. So doctors are becoming very affordable now, too. That along with payment plans if they are needed. Or they could just take a roadtrip to Canada and get free medicine. Also, doctors take an oath to provide medical care where it is needed when it is needed. They CAN'T stop and ask for a credit card before helping you out. And after the fact they work out payment options based on the amount that the patient is able to pay, for that very reason.
Preventative care, however, is the most cost effective of all.
Also, some medical facilities PAY their patients to use experimental drugs. These experimental drugs are tested for over 5 years on animals in many cases before ever being touched by a human for consumption. And before given to these facilities they are tested by the government to assure their safety.
Also, general medicines such as Tylenol, Clarinex, are not a necessity and thus aren't needed. They're a benefit, an increase in the quality of life that comes about based on the quality of one's work and the importance of your time: money.
Food is free. There are about 3 soup kitchens in my town alone that feed over 200 people every night. And I'd be more than happy to give you a cooked meal if you stop by my house, or direct you to a location that will if I don't have the means at hand to help you. Also, children in public schools receive reduced price or free lunches if they simply fill out a form showing their need.
