No, I don't think I'm "invinsible", or even invisible, for that matter.

However, I do think it's stupid to kill oneself. Remember that most suicides are commited on a whim or during a period of depression. Is that smart? Letting your emotions rule you?

And it's about the most selfish thing a person can do. There's NO courage in suicide! Suicide is the way out! Where there is courage is in the people that want to work out their problems inspite of the trouble and anguish they're currently experiencing. Resorting to suicide is wanting those troubles and anguish to end without any work involved. Suicide is courage? Riiight... Where's the Suicide's Wall listing everyone's name in D.C. next to the Vietnam Memorial, then, huh?

Matt, no I wasn't being sarcastic. Maybe I was a bit harsh, but I wasn't sarcastic. It sounds to me like he just wanted some attention and was hoping the doctors could patch him up later. If he really wanted to die he would have done it quick and easy in the head. But no, this is the kid that did think he was invincible. Now that little punk caused all of his family, all of his friends and teachers at school so much pain and anguish because he either a) want HIS anguish and pain to end, or b) wanted to make a show so his girlfriend would feel guilty and come back to him. Either way his plan failed.

we're not all vulcans you know. sometimes our emotions DO rule us. its called being human.

yeah, i have to say i'd probably kill myself right now but i'm not happy about leaving my pc with nekkid ladies on it and such... plus i dont like the idea of people poking around my body when i'm dead... oh, and people will think i'm a loser for being such a pussy and taking the easy way out, even though i agree it does take guts to go through that amount of pain just to die.

Yes, it does take courage to shoot 3 bullets through your stomach. However, if you shoot yourself in the head, all you have to do is press the trigger...

If you're desperate enough to commit suicide, I doubt you really care about pain.

Your emotions do rule your mental state, but they don't have to make you kill yourself. Emotions are real, and depression is a sickness worse than most "physical" illnesses, but that doesn't mean that suicide is okay or good or right or courageous. And if you're going to commit suicide you're going to do it one of four tried and true ways. Two of them is kind of a combination: jumping off from a high location, either with a rope around your neck or not. Shooting yourself in the head. Or slitting your wrists (preferably while in a bathtub). You don't shoot yourself in the stomach to kill yourself. You don't stab your thigh. These are the only TRULY suicidal actions. Anything else and you can immediately tell that the person had something going through his head, either wasn't ready to commit to suicide or just wanted attention or any number of other things. Especially while AT SCHOOL! That's an OBVIOUS sign that he wanted attention. He wanted someone, probably his girlfriend, to rush out to him while he was in the throws of death only to be taken away in an EMS and get patched up so they could live happily ever after, while she's stuck in a prison of remorse. Suicide attempts NEVER happen in public places. They're always alone at home, because they don't want to be interrupted, they WANT TO DIE. It's obvious to me that this kid wasn't trying to die, wasn't in a suicidal state of mind. He was over the edge, but not the edge of a skyscraper.
