Your emotions do rule your mental state, but they don't have to make you kill yourself. Emotions are real, and depression is a sickness worse than most "physical" illnesses, but that doesn't mean that suicide is okay or good or right or courageous. And if you're going to commit suicide you're going to do it one of four tried and true ways. Two of them is kind of a combination: jumping off from a high location, either with a rope around your neck or not. Shooting yourself in the head. Or slitting your wrists (preferably while in a bathtub). You don't shoot yourself in the stomach to kill yourself. You don't stab your thigh. These are the only TRULY suicidal actions. Anything else and you can immediately tell that the person had something going through his head, either wasn't ready to commit to suicide or just wanted attention or any number of other things. Especially while AT SCHOOL! That's an OBVIOUS sign that he wanted attention. He wanted someone, probably his girlfriend, to rush out to him while he was in the throws of death only to be taken away in an EMS and get patched up so they could live happily ever after, while she's stuck in a prison of remorse. Suicide attempts NEVER happen in public places. They're always alone at home, because they don't want to be interrupted, they WANT TO DIE. It's obvious to me that this kid wasn't trying to die, wasn't in a suicidal state of mind. He was over the edge, but not the edge of a skyscraper.
