Maybe you should just get headphones. Like the hd600, Although they might be a little over your price  .

I'm pretty sure you can blow your ears out with the output from a 10 year old soundcard if you have powerful enough speakers...
The quality of the soundcard output on the other hand...

The guy at Best Buy doesn't know anything about speakers and is thinking about passive speakers that were used in the 1980s. Today we have things called amplifiers.

You Audigy has the best signal to noise ratio available for a consumer level computer. The Klipsche are the only speakers capable of utilizing that level of clarity. If you buy cheap speakers then you might as well have bought a cheap sound card. Just buy the refurbish Klipsche 2.1 already.

I think I'm gonna get the Altec Lansing 621's. If I buy them new, they're still in my price range, plus I trust Altec Lansing, as I've used their products before and have been impressed with them. The only bad thing about them is that the 621's are only sold at circuit city, which is half an hour away from me. Oh well, they'll be worth it.

I just got an email about Klipsch's new 2.1 set. I don't know if it's any good, but here it is:

Two cupcakes were in an oven. One turned to the other and said "Damn, it sure is hot in here" and the other one said "HOLY SHIT! A TALKING CUPCAKE!"

eminefes, those aren't as great as Klipsch' normal line. Those are more designer speakers, made for the looks (which I think is hideous, but there's no accounting for that).

I agree with moosey, those look hideous. Altec lansing make a similar 4.1 set that are just as horrible looking.

I actualy like the look of those, but they are too much for my taste. How come the woofer is never styled like the other speakers?

I personally wouldn't want a subwoofer that looks like those speakers.

Because a subwoofer needs to be in a box, it's not like other speakers, and because it usually goes out of sight under the desk. Of course I've got a glass desk, so that isn't quite the case for me.
