bromine is for real algae, that's what I thought anyway, and chlorine is a preventative. Here in Florida during the summer it's very difficult to keep chlorine levels since it rains every day three times a day. So you can use bromine to get a fast effect ... but I'm not sure what bromine is, so I may be stupid.
