The GOP will kill people with the same value as Chris Reeve

My criticism involved "not more actively supporting stem cell research". That encapsulates embrionic stem cells.

I'm definetly not a libertarian. Though I don't like big government, I figure if the money is going to be spent, it should be spent on things that I care about.

As far as I can recall, Pastuer found penicillin on accident, not because he was making any particular effort to find it.

"While observing, chance favors the prepared mind" - Louis Pasteur

It was hardly "on[sic] accident"

So, what you are saying is that everyone in this country should be forced to pay taxes to support funding research that has yielding absolutly nothing because we fund similar research that has found something, irrelivant of any sort of respect (or lack thereof) for human life?

Sorry Brig, your original statement is just silly, especially considering the actor.

I'm going to have to go with maddox on this one:

Nitpick: Pasteur had nothing to do with <a href="http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blpenicillin.htm">Penicillin</a>.
(it was "chance discovery" though:
<a href="http://www.accessexcellence.org/AE/AEC/CC/chance.html">Discovery, Chance and the Scientific Method</a>).

I watched bits of "HardTalk" with Christopher Reeve on BBC World last night, and I have to say he did sound like a bit of a prick (and in serious denial).

Since I don't have the energy to keep pretending this thread was anything but a troll, I have to admit that I was being a douche and was trying to provoke the conservatives on the board. I'm surprised I was given as much room to wiggle out of this one as I was. Good call Jaybot.

Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.
