Best sources for Mac info

Since you just got your iMac, Im going to recommend you try out Konfabulator. It is the best thing since sliced bread for macs :-D

All the things in the picture to the left are widgets, I got one for weather, time, date, todo list, itunes remote, battery life, CPU monitor, and on the lower right there is a widget for my gmail account which tells me how many unread emails I have. There are also many many widgets available, and konfabulator is available for windows too! Althought I dunno if it looks as good under windows because under OS X it uses the Quartz rendering engine for the transparancies.

Ohh and yes, I need to change my desktop background!

I use programs at full screen too much for that stuff.

You can set the widgets to do whatever you want, for example, you can set certain widgets to stay on top of an app all the time. You can set them to floating so that you see them but dont interact with them, or you can set them to always on top so you can use the widgets. You can also set transparancies for the widgets. Other widgets you can embed within the desktop so that they are always on your desktop, but you can put anything over them. Also Konfabulator has a quick key, for me its f8, and when I press f8 every konfab app pops up on the screen. If I need to use a calculator, or use the weather, or do a quick google search or something of that sort, konfab will pop up for me.

my fucking god your desktop is cluttered. that would annoy the living hell out of me. when i ran konfabulator, i only had the mini versions of the weather bar, calendar, and the cpu usage ticker. When i realized that make you pay for it, i tossed it. Why pay for something that will be free in the tiger?

I only use the picture frame, minibattery and miniwifi signal thingies. Whenever I want to see them, I just hit f8 for konspose. Windows Konfabulator isn't free either. A little window popped-up and bugged me that it wasn't gonna go away, I just hit alt-f4. I haven't seen it since.
Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

I tried Konfabulator on the PC, but quickly went back to Samurize.

I'll check it out on the Mac and see if I like it any better. If I remember right on the PC version, it doesn't have a good Network Interface monitor which is important for me.

I haven't been able to get the Mac to connect to my 802.11b network, but everything else has been smooth sailing.
