Check your firewall. As refractor said, your firewall should be catching something like this.

I need to look into getting a decent firewall since I've just bought a satellite internet package. Should come next week. 1000kbps here I come!

Cameron, did you set messenger service to disabled rather than automatic? If automatic it will load when you (re)start windows.

Nope. At worst it can trigger some javascript popups, but I think that's an outlook thing too.
