That's physics not biology! Physics isn't quit 'tangible' like biology. Relative Anatomy IS Evolution. Biologists explain the hip bone found in snakes as evidence that they evolved from an animal with legs. Of course in the Bible it says snakes used to have legs but when that evil snake tricked that guy and gal He made the snake crawl on his belly.
And little tiny-whiny femurs in whales. Things like that.

BUT MY RESEARCH PAPER! I HAVE ONE HOUR! AHHHH!

[EDIT] ... wait wait wait. COMPUTER SIMULATIONS?! You're using COMPUTER SIMULATIONS as a test for Evolution? Oh ya? Well I can use a computer to simulate God's Creation of the universe. Is that evidence of Creation? I would say not. My computer simulates magic spells and huge demons. Is that evidence of magic spells and huge demons? Jadam... you're not much of a scientist.

I think I'll end up doing "Islam: Faith and Practices" because it will be really easy to find some good research material on it.

TechMage, have any suggestions? :D

When I get around to it I can try to post what my "Religions of the World" book says about Islam...

Islam is very misunderstood by non-Muslims and even some Muslims themselves. For instance in Islam, most women WANT to wear veils and cover themselves so that they are only thought about sexually by their husbands and do not cause other men to sin by thinking naughty thoughts about them (so they are not considered temptors like Satan is). Also Islam is very patriarchal (men ruled) and the husbands themslves don't want other guys look at their women (stress "women" not "woman," because some Muslim men have many wives).

Sure there is some things in Islam that can be taken to extreme like people circumcizing little girls so that they will have no sexual desire and make good faithfull wives. And then their is Jihad, which is supposed to be about people banding together against an evil ruler and overthrowing him, even if it means sucicide. Infact if you do commit sucicide while taking out an evil ruler, then you become a matyr (spelled that wrong, I think).

This can be a very positive belief because it encourages people to be brave and not let evil take over you, but it can also be very dangerous if taken to extremes, like what has been seen with the terrorism groups and September 11th. Now instead of brave muslims fighting off evil kings (sultans) like they did in the past, they have demonized the whole U.S. because of some bad moves by the government. So now not only is a ruler the satan, but whole governments can be condemed to the satan status and now as we have seen, even a whole people (including men, women and children!).

But that's what has happened to all religions. Whenever you have beliefs or comandments written down in sacred scripture, evil men and women can warp it to their own evil interpretations.

Don't write it for me. Just give me the name and author of the book or something or a link to it on Amazon.

Okay, I'll put in some little bits and pieces I remember, brought about from Techmage's post.

About the multiple wives thing, a Muslim man is allowed to have up to 4 wives, but he has to treat them equally. If he buys wife #2 a car, wives 1, 3, and 4 should also be getting a new set of wheels. A woman is not allowed to have multiple husbands, however, as that would cause problems if she gets pregnant (who's the father, etc)

As for the veil thingy, there was actually a story in the paper a few months ago about a female Muslim police officer who got really pissed because they wouldn't let her wear her burka on the job.

And IIRC, a jihad is actually just to take things under Muslim rule, not to convert or punish others. Everyone would be treated fairly under this rule (I'm not sure if that's what I read, though... it may have said that Muslims were treated better, which sounds like it makes more sense).

And you're not necessarily going to hell because you're not a Muslim. Basically they believe that Allah (literally "the god") sent his message to us through prophets, starting with Moses. Muhammed is just the last and greatest of them. So theoretically if you're Christian or Jewish, you're still worshipping the same god and the same ideals, just being a Muslim is better because Muhammed was the greatest of the prophets.

But in a way I kinda wish I was doing the project :)
I'm just totally fascinated by religion and love studying it. Unfortunately I have to wait 2 years until I get to take the Old Testament course at my school :(

[edit]and I'll see if I can find my book on Amazon. It's not necessarily the biggest of books, but it is a nice overview of all the major religions with a somewhat big section on Islam and overall a pretty nice read[/edit]

I just listened to Fuck the Creationists by M.C. Hawking. That is fricking hilarious Refractor! I didn't expect them to do it in a electronic voice like Steven Hawking uses! It sounds just like him (or rather his speaking device)! You have made my day Refractor. :D

Ok, now I need you to find "Fuck the Evolutionists by the notorious G.O.D. and Billy Gram!"

*slaps forehead* Duh, Moose, you're in biology, and what's the big thing about biology now? Genetic engineering! Do a paper on "The Ethics of Genetic Engineering: Designer Babies". I'm actually against "designer babies", but I agree with genetic engineering for health purposes, not looks or mental things. Mainly because the world needs stupid people to do the manual work, so making all babies really smart would screw us all up, so I say only genetically engineer for health, not personality, and not looks.
