Best metal band of all time.

Postby Robotbeat » Feb 5, 2003 @ 5:06am

Slipknot is more what I call pop-core. They're not really hardcore, if you know what hardcore is. They are a kind of rap-core-derivative.

Now, personally, I don't like Slipknot. I don't like what they stand for. And I don't like their particular flavor of hardcore/rapcore that much. They have pretty good sounding music, though. And they are very talented and have been around for awhile. I'm more of a metalcore/deathmetal/underground hardcore type person. Zao is good. That's what I like. Almost all of the bands on this page I like a lot:. That's what I call hardcore. Check out StillBreathing. As far as chick hardcore bands go, StillBreathing absolutely kicks Kittie's butt. And is better than most guy hardcore bands as well. Zao is still the best, though.

Warren, hardcore was very alive and well before Slipknot was even born. If you want some REAL hardcore, none of this metal shit, check out Converge, Earth Crisis, etc. For a little more toned down shit, look for From Autumn to Ashes. If you think that Slipknot is "the most insane band ever", try some Converge, you won't believe your ears.

Or Zao. They're pretty nuts. Yup. Slipknot definitely isn't true hardcore. Kinda weak stuff, ya know?

Well, Zao is pretty darn freaky. My favorite album is called "LIBERATE TE EX INFERIS"--Save yourself from HELL (in Latin). It is based off of the movie "Event Horizon" and also the book Dante's Inferno (the different tracks are ordered by the Circles of Hell in Dante's Inferno). It's pretty freaky. Event Horizon is an extremely freaky movie. You gotta see it. But Zao is awesome. Yes, I do think that Zao "touches" that other band you were talking about.

Slayer is pretty mainstream, at least compared to the other bands we're talking about. Granted, they would never be confused with pop-anything, but yeah.

Gotta go with Tesla as my all time favorite. I also like the recently reunited Living Colour. Nobody could outperform these guys.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

i prefer straight heavy metal, without pimps with barbarian masks, underground cryptic vomitters, or brain-burned drug-induced-ADD freaks.

oh, before i forget it:

heavy metal = M A N O W A R

Lol, it's funny seeing you people argue that Slipknot is "light", I mean, if you take a random person off the street and made them listen to it, they're not goint to say it's light...

Robotbeat, I just got the Demon Hunter CD, they're from Solid State Records, really really good stuff. Living Sacrifice is ok.

Mushroomhead is the best of the best (note my avatar...).

[edit]Just listened to Zao - Resistance, and meh, I think it's a little slow for the type of music, and the vocals...I've never heard it that high pitched! And the song isn't that heavy...I don't know, but Slipknot is definitely more hardcore than that song.
