Major Terrorist Attack on USA

Re: Major Terrorist Attack on USA

Muuhuuuhaaahaaa!!!!

1) Right, we funded the Afghanis and they funded the VC. Not too gentlemanly. But, that was not my point, so for clarity I will elaborate.

-The natural degradation of power in a nation-state comes from within. This is historically demonstrable, from Rome to the British Empire and beyond. The young nation-state comes to power through ragged warfare (case: US guerilla fighting in the Revolution). Power is held, and grows. Eventually the populus becomes politically active, and gets a sense of elitism. This invariably leads to an intollerance for attrocity in most forms. (case: Britain wearin red and fighting in lines). This is when weakness is shown. Gulf War: We allowed troops to return to Bagdad instead of slaughtering them.

2) I somehow doubt that Machievellian strategy can be labled as insanity.

3) I, also, feel the pain of the free world. However, in this case, I believe that the US needs to have its priorities in order. To concern ourselves with everyone else's problems is too overwhelming. We leave our borders open to help others, what do we get? We help with disaster relief, who pays us back? We send troops to help others in their wars, are they concerned with our needs? In this regard, I view this as a US issue, and a US issue only. I welcome our friends to the fight, but I don't much care about their needs and wants right now. If they can benifit, benifit from the US action on our terms.

4) On this point, I have this to say. The rules are going to change. I know this. We are going to be fighting down and dirty. You won't see it on TV. You will only hear of unusual deaths and weird explosions. This is not going to be a collaboritive exercise.

Perhaps, on this other thread, their are reasons beyond emotion for removing the towers.

Perhaps it is to show the new skyscape. That's what NY looks like now.

Perhaps this shows American resilience.

I have no doubt that when they are rebuilt, in whatever form, they will appear in new films.

I do, however, think that we should not make it a policy of removing them from existing media.

whether or not the twin towers appear in a movie is SO UNIMPORTANT. This completely depicts the mentality of Paul and his funcked up priorities.

I've been to the Towers and I was overwhelmed with emotion just standing within such a magnificent structure. I doubt there will ever be a day that I will not feel some sort of emotion when I see them in photos or movies.

randall, what the hell is wrong with you?

you just aid its "SO UNIMPORTANT" if they're in there or not - exactly my point - so i'm saying Fox are being complete dickheads to take the f ucking time to remove them in the first place.

if its so unimportant whether they're there or not, just leave the f uckers in! jeez...

RIC, I don't agree with you. The US never went to war if it didn't have something to gain with it. If that's so, why didn't it step in with the Brits in the Falklands? Or when Israel invaded Palestine (was that the Six Days War?)?
But your right about one thing: CNN won't give live coverage of whatever nasty thing is going to happen. It's very possible that we won't even know at all what will happen. Yeah, there's going to be some air raids and other fancy things, but the real hardcore stuff will happen in the dead of night with no reporter around.
Anyhow, we're sure of our points and I sincerly don't think one of us will convince the other, so lets leave it at this. Shit happened and will happen again, even though we don't want it to.

BTW, why did you say the cruise missle is crap? I know it's biggest function is towards moral, but is it that bad?

And I agree with Paul, they shouldn't just pretend that the WTC towers never existed. They existed and now they're ruins. As if takeing them out of movies or other things will make things better. Alright, if the movie depicted something in NY blowing up, I concur it would be of very bad taste. But just because the buildings appeared sometime in the movie...

Ok, Luc, truce...but not just yet.

1) We went into the Balkins in 1998, with nothing to gain. But, then, that was Clinton, so who's shocked? He was such a dumbass.

2) Israel did not invade Palistine, as Palistine never existed. The six days war was fought because Israel and Jordan decided to split up what was SUPPOSED to be Palisting between themselves. Our intervention should have been not to give the land to the Jews post WWII in the first place, as all it did was kick the Palistinians out of their native land.

3) Cruies missles are great...who said they weren't? Oh, yeah. What I said was that lobbing a cruise missle into the Sudan, by Clinton, was stupid and useless. It was a wanker response, because he was a big pussy and knew nothing about foriegn policy. Probably because he was too busy trying to get his dick sucked by fat chicks.
