okay got that, but then what makes the sections crowded like it is, instead like most forums have an outline around each section, to make it look spaced out like this?

I create templates comprised of HTML and phpBB template variables. It's really a PITA and takes a while to get it done right.

And guess what? I get to do it again!!! :)

Yeah, I guess it is.

You got part of it right. phpBB takes those template files I make and pops data into the places I left for phpBB variables. Then it puts all the template files together that it needs and displays it to the browser.
