PPCs are defined by their hardware. An iPaq running Linux is still a PPC, since it is cable of running PPC and WinCE.

Besides, why fret over semantics here? As for the OQO itself, I'd say it's both vaporware and too expensive anyway.

So an iPaq running linux is not a PPC, even though it says "Pocket PC" on it?

You can use PocketPC wherever the hell you want; it's a generic term. That's why they use Windows Powered PocketPC.

Yes, the only trademarks is windows; Palm could start calling their devices Pocket PCs, and it wouldn't be illegal.

Whether MS would try to crush them under litigation is another matter however.

Really? Like what? The only example that comes to mind is Lindows, which is a stupid name anyway.

Really, if anything MS is the exact opposite of sue happy. Now if you wanna talk about sueing for absolutely anything, look at apple. "Those buttons on that website look somewhat like the ones we use in our operating system, we'll see you in court!".

Yeah, for some reason because Microsoft is a large company people associate it with absolutely all possible bad things a company can do.

I've never been with the whole Down with MS crap, because that's just what it is crap. If you take the time to actually look at MS, while they may make buggy software, they're a company that keeps to themselves and actually (from what I've read in the past) care about their employees.
