I have a superslim sony VAIO z505rx which I picked up from ebay for about £350. I had to buy an extended battery for it which took the total price to £400.
For this I get a diddy notebook with external drives (no big deal for me) that has a FANTASTIC screen, is really lightweight and although the 400MHz processor can occasionally lead to things getting a little sluggish; it has 256MB RAM which runs XP Pro just fine and it's the main machine I use for PocketGamer admin tasks. Also has built in modem and LAN, USB and firewire and a memory stick slot.
Crosswind technique: "Using your peripheral vision, react to body movements, gasps, groans, and shouts from the other side of the cockpit, and always remember that it's better to be lucky than good."
