I think this is what I will do:

Linksys WCF12 Wireless-B Network CompactFlash Card (Type I)

and

SMC EZ Connect 802.11b Mbps Wireless PCI Card

That combo seems fine to me.

I don't know why you'd need WinProxy :/

What is it, some connection sharing thing? Why not just use the built in Windows feature?

No, you don't need a router for just one to one, but if you want to put any more devices on the network then you will have to. Plus the router is a little easier to set up than AdHoc...

No problems with Netgear.

Just so you know, you're probably the first person on this forum to attempt this, so we can't tell you that it will work for certain or what not. It should work, but just be aware that you're a pioneer.

Hahaha, that reasuring :D! I did find some posts on other forums about doing this. And from what I gathered from them, it will work its just that one person was having trouble doing it with AOL for some reason.

Ya, me too...

I unbridged the LAN and the WiFi connections on my Laptop, now I can access the internet on my Laptop and files that are on my laptop from my Tablet through this adhoc connection. Now I just need to share the LAN connection to my Tablet, but if I try to share it it keeps shooting me the error message that another device on the network already has the IP address it's trying to define (the 196.168.0.1 base IP, which is the router's IP.) Any way I can get it to use another IP address? I'll try to define it manually and see if it sticks.

[edit] Nope, "A computer is already assigned the IP address required for automatic something-or-other."

Yea, ICS is hardcoded to use 192.168.0.1. Why can't you use your router? Get a bridge for your router if it's not wireless enabled.
