I'm not denying that he didn't exist - I'm saying that he didn't exist in the walking-on-water way. I don't believe he did miracles.
Thinking back to that article, though, it's fundamentally flawed. First of all, the people aren't denying the donuts because they don't want them, they're doing it to try to stop the kid doing the push ups. Secondly, there's no way someone who wants to be a minister (talk about ambition... what good is he going to do?) is going to not do something his religion teacher tells him to do.
And thirdly, donuts? Isn't temptation a sin or something. And it's not as if push-ups are the same as the cross.
It's not even an allegory, it's like a fake story of something that tries to be. It's a classic catch-44 situation.
