Sandmann is astute, as usual. Trae and Andy are wrong.

The minimum wage raises wages at the cost of jobs. It's stupid. Even if you earn the minimum wage, living "like an American" would be impossible. These people need to upgrade their skillset or move out. We'll trade them for the skilled labor in Mexico. We'll make better use of them anyway.

Outsourcing jobs is good for the American economy; it's just another form of trade. We have an advantage when it comes to skilled labor: why do you think we drive the world? It's natural for us to develop things, produce them at first, and once we've come up with a way for others to produce them using unskilled or semiskilled labor, we outsource the jobs. This makes the goods cheaper for us, and makes us relatively more wealthy because the outsourced production is cheaper. Industries come and go; in the end, Americans get big bags of money, while everyone else gets second pick. Hurray for us.

Also, many have the mistaken belief that one programmer is as good as the next. This isn't the case. Anyone who programs should recognize this as a fallacy. The fact is, programmers in the US (and Canada, Europe...) are going to be more capable on average than programmers in foreign countries.
Truth is a possession.

Oh wow, and now comes in the mighty brig who has the power to tell everyone who’s right and wrong on last time. Yes minimum wage is stupid. If immigrants can't manage a b at minimum wage due to their not having skills then they don't get welfare cause they aren't citizens. So they wind up going back.

Oh crap, got me there.

Many economists agree. In fact, it's the politicians that are screwing everyone over, by selling people on crappy ideas like the minimum wage and protectionism.

Frankly, I'm happy to see money and jobs moving to other countries. Trade benefits everyone, and as their wages go up, we'll have new markets for our goods and we'll get goods that were once expensive on the cheap. Further, it should be noted that most of the goods the US consumes are produced here in the US (>80%, I believe).
Truth is a possession.

Did I misread what you wrote? As I understand things:

* Illegal immigrant workers have an advantage over local workers. I think we were in agreement there.
* Part of that advantage has to do with the fact that it's a lot cheaper to live in the countries illegal immigrant's come from. There isn't a whole lot we can do about this.
* The government makes things worse. I say the problem with them is collectivist taxations. You say the problem is min. wage.

Did I get anything wrong?

It makes bring feel big when he tells people they are wrong. Then when he jokes its funny and when someone else does its not. It's his way let him be.

What did I say that was wrong, Brig?

And, answer my previous post, Trae.
