I may be getting my RSX this week!
Does anyone have a preference, manual or automatic? I heard automatic transmissions in Acuras were really bad and break down quickly. Can anyone verify this?

For the rest of thy life, thy shall only purchase that of a manual transmission. <- 11th Commandment

Acura's do have a reputation for bad trannies. My aunt has a 2001 Acura TL, and the transmission fell out. It's an auto. I don't know if the manuals are any better. They've all been recalled in the past for the transmissions falling out. And yes, they actually do fall out onto the road.

Automatic is the American way!

Play this game, the object is to accelerate to 60mph (100km/h) in 7.7 seconds. It's harder than you think, I've won it a few times, it's funny when you win.

My brother has a 2001 3.2TL and he's constantly having trouble with his automatic transmission, but he just rides it really rough. My father believes that I'll need to replace the clutch after 60k miles if I get a manual. I'd love to get a manual, or the SportShift automatic. Either one is great, it really makes no difference to me. I just hope that if I get a manual it won't break down and if I get an automatic it won't break down.

Your clutch should last you a good 70k or more, depending on how hard you ride it. But it isn't like an automatic doesn't have a clutch. So, you're looking at fixing stuff down the road no matter what. That is hardly a reason to go auto.

I have a auto-shift in my C320, (I swore I would never own an auto), and it is kinda cool, but it is no replacement for a manual.

Well I'm going to have to learn manual. I know the entire theory behind it and exactly how to do it. I've ran through it in my mind the entire way home from the dealer. But does anyone have any good tips to help me learn faster?

I've got a renault 5 GTT and i have to say they are wicked fun (0-60 in 7.3sec standard! 8O mines prob more like 6.5secs but haven't roaling roaded it yet) head gaskets tend to go on them every so often (depending how much boost im running and how i treat it  hehe) but its worth it! and theyre pretty cheap to replace, £30 odd for a new gasket set. Anyway, would recommend them to anyone whose looking for a pretty cheap but FAST car.

lol 12bhp, my r5 is more like 160-170bhp, but its a car, obviously bikes are gonna be quicker as they are so light, but i bet your 12bhp bike cant beat me 60-130mph, at least im warm and dry hey :P and id like to see you transport your stuff around on that thing. I have a honda CB600F, not the sportiest of bikes, but i bet its a damn site faster than your bike, anyway its too wet to ride at the moment in the uk, roll on summer :D Oh and my uncle has a yamaha yzf-r1 which ive hopped up on the back of (never again, bit nerve racking hehe ) so i know how fast bikes can be, but that thing is just silly (almost 160bhp 0-60 in 3.5s), couldn't afford the insurance myself being only 22 and having no-noclaims bonus.
