Sorry, but I raced one, and won, on an 80 degree hairpin turn I was able to take it faster and sway less. It was an "S" too, because it roared pasted me 100 yards from the hair pin and I dropped it into first at 30 mph, ran up to 35 and hit second, I was at 50 when I took the turn and he struggled at 45. But maybe he was just a really poor driver.

My car has the same width as a MINI, and great AutoX handling. Maybe you should go testdrive an RSX.
Is the MINI front wheel drive? Does the Mini have MacPherson struts or equal?

The RSX TEARS UP! BMW 325's in the AutoX.

I may just up to NY and show you a thing or two ... or are you in Florida now?

With my parents' car (Opel Astra, which I drive, too expensive to be a student and car owner for me) I often drive 25 mph at the fifth gear (the engine isn't exactly a beast, but it works) and by then the RPM meter shows about 1000 RPMs. Works fine :)

Ya, my engine would sputter and I'd be embarrased

But it's kind of dangerous to drive in too high a gear. If something happened that you needed to accelerate you've got that second longer to downshift and rev match and then hit the gas. And driving in that high a gear you'd actually lose vaccuum and pressure and gas would be lossed in the transfer so you're actually getting worse gas mileage. If you're going to drive in 5th at 25mph you might as well just put the clutch in and roll.
