chuck, do you have GCC etc installed? One time I installed linux but didnt install the development packages, and I ended up without GCC. End result was I couldn't compile anything.

No, I've never seen that, I've never seen anyone drive their garbage out to the curb and bang the hell out of it with a stick. No, I've never seen that.

Success! The drive was partitioned correctly, and I just installed Linux as dual boot with my existing XP installation.

Everything configured just nicely with minimal input. That's what I like about Suse; once installed - you're good to go. In fact, I'm using it right now.

Alright guys. I get this error when trying to install something for Linux. I was installing AIM and I got this

"Installation CD 4 (x86) " on device [/dev/hdc] I need to put in another disk for installation but the problem is I have NO idea what it is.

Guessing from that, you're using Mandrake?
If so, then you need to put in CD 4, just like it says. If you don't have CD4 (meaning you're using the free version), just download a client yourself (I'd suggest Gaim or Kopete, preferably Gaim)

I am now a proud owner of a dual boot Windows XP and Linux Mandrake 10 machine. Thank you lil mickey. I have a question though, can you change the way linux looks? I have seen so many desktops of linux and some dont even have the little start menu... I want to change the way it looks to something cooler... is it possible under mandrake 10?
