If you can't top 85 in Need For Speed, then yes.

Him who won't, they drag.

Sounds like you need a DirectX 8.1 compliant graphics card.

Duh, I have a Voodoo3! Nothing works with it, Quake3 can barely use it.

I just tried the Black Hawk Down demo, worked hilariously bad. EVERYTHING was a solid brown, no shadows, no other color than brown. The menu was solid white, took a while to get into the game, which took about 8 minutes to load, and it runs at a wonderful 1-2fps.

GeForce IS DirectX compliant! Voodoo is OpenGL.

Yeah, but it's not a DirectX 8.1 compliant card. No pixel/vertex shader.

yes, but Geforce2 can still play current games atleast. But the point was that he needed a DX8 compliant card, not whether something or other is DX8 compliant. Warren, Just go buy a Radeon 9500np. It's $160 and it can be unlocked to run as fast as a 9700, and then overclocked to a 9700 Pro. So you get a $400 card for $160.

Well, my point is that a DX 8 compliant card isn't needed.

But what's the point of not getting a DX8 card when DX9 is already out and games designed to use 9 are out, too?
